Simplest Cranberry Sauce (with pictures)

What kind of Thanksgiving meal would it be without cranberries? For years I used that jelly blob looking stuff that comes in a can as my Mom fully expected some sort of cranberry sauce on the table. But then I discovered how wonderfully easy it was to make my own from fresh cranberries, and it is soooo much better tasting!

This recipe is so simple you're gonna kick yourself for not making it sooner. Its right there on the bag of Ocean Spray Cranberries, but I modify it just a bit.

You will need:

  • 1 12 oz bag cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup juice, water, or combination. (Use a juice with no added sugar, orange juice works well)

First you will want to rinse your cranberries and remove any stems or bruised fruit.

Now add sugar and liquid to a saucepan and bring to a boil.

Today I used a Citrus, Mango, Pineapple Blend

Add the cranberries and return to a boil.

Simmer gently for 10 minutes and then allow to cool.

The cranberries will start to pop open.

Store in an airtight container.

Delish!

  • Bring to a boil and add cranberries, return to boil
  • Reduce heat and boil gently for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally

Makes 2 1/4 cups.
